Has this ever happened to you, when you hear party songs or dhol beats you tend to tap your feet or fingers, or move your neck, or twirl your hands but could not gather that courage to stand up and dance in front of everyone or when forced to dance by someone you get up but try to hide behind the crowd so that no one can see you vividly? A person behaves in this manner when he is too shy or does not know how to dance, because of which he becomes famous as “Pappu can’t dance saala”
These days people pay a huge amount of fees for learning even beginner level of dance and still are not able to learn and then they blame the instructors for not being good enough.
Why do you feel shy in public?
The fact is dance is an inherent talent that can be improved when practiced but cannot be inculcated in the being from scratch. But do not get demotivated by this, there is less than 10% of the population in the world that is born with the disease named beat deafness. In this disorder, the person cannot identify the beats and rhythm of the music. Apart from this, we all are God-gifted with the rhythm in our body, we just need to identify those beats, understand their pattern, and follow them. Everything around us follows this pattern, the ticking clock, chirping of birds, even our pulse has rhythm and beats.
Try to understand the pattern
One just needs to understand the pattern and start following the rhythm first. Movements, flexibility, and expressions are the next thing to be focused upon. Wait! Wait! But before that, the shy people need to go away with their shyness and bring about that confidence in themselves that we are dancing for ourselves, our fun and entertainment, and not for others. Once you start enjoying your dance you will forget about other’s judgments.
Now when we have overcome this stage, we need to understand the importance of little yoga in our daily routine which would bring us the flexibility to dance. This will eventually help us to gain flexibility and to be fit and healthy too. Talking about the expressions now, these will pour like anything into your dance when you start feeling the lyrics of the song.
Just be consistent with your practice and do not shy away from putting your best foot forward.
